KSLV AM/FM and KYDN FM are located in Monte Vista, in the beautiful San Luis Valley, in south central Colorado. The San Luis Valley is comprised of six counties - Alamosa, Conejos, Costilla, Mineral, Rio Grande and Saguache, with a total population of over 45,000. The towns of Alamosa and Monte Vista are the primary trading areas for this fertile valley.
The San Luis Valley is the highest alpine valley in the world capable of producing controlled crops. The Valley's economic base is primarily agriculture with predominant crops being: potatoes, barley, alfalfa, winter wheat, and vegetables. Numerous lakes and rivers are prime attractions for tourists with rafting, boating, fishing, camping, mountain biking, etc. in mind. The Great Sand Dunes National Monument is only 30 miles northeast of Monte Vista. There are three major ski resorts located within close proximity, attracting tourists throughout the winter season.
KYDN-FM airs a Today's New Hit Country format 24 hours a day and is located at 95.3 on the dial.The station concentrates on community involvement through local news, agriculture reports, local rodeo events, and special programs such as: "Las Horas Latinas" targeted to the 40 percent Hispanic population throughout the Valley.
KSLV-AM airs a Classic Hit Country format 24 hours a day is located at 1240 on the AM dial.
KSLV FM airs an Adult Contemporary format 24 hours a day and is located at 96.5 on the dial. On the air since 1986, the station concentrates on community involvement through local news and broadcasting local high school sports.
